With businesses and teams dispersed worldwide, coordinating data and tracking updates is more important than ever. Inevitably, the topic of time zones will come up in conversations. The most common is coordinating calendars and deadlines for reports. And at Coefficient, we LOVE 😍reports.
Time zones come up every day with our users, what time is this Import refreshing, when is this Snapshot set to generate, what time should that Daily Summary reach my inbox - what if the person who creates these Imports, Snapshots, and Automations are in a different Time Zone than me? 🤯
Scheduled Imports
With Coefficient, you can schedule your imports to ensure your data is refreshed from the source at designated times and dates.
|
ℹ️ NOTE: Scheduled Imports will refresh according to the Time Zone setting on the user’s computer. 💻
What does that mean?
|
Automated Snapshots
An Automated Snapshot is a copy of your Coefficient import taken on a specific date at a specific time. Each time a new Snapshot is created, a new tab is generated in your workbook showing the data at the time it triggered the snapshot.
|
ℹ️ NOTE: Automated Snapshots (set to Daily and Weekly) are generated at 1 a.m. following the creator’s time zone. ⏰
What does that mean? If a user sets a Snapshot to generate “Weekly” and “on Monday” at "1 am", AND the user’s computer is set to Pacific Time, THEN Coefficient will create a new Snapshot of the user’s import on Monday morning 1 AM Pacific Time. |
Automations
Automation(s) are notifications you can set up in Coefficient based on activity and changes in your data import. Automations can be sent via email or to Slack.
|
ℹ️ NOTE: Daily/Weekly Screenshot Automations follow the import creator’s timezone. 🔔
What does that mean? If you create an import (Pacific Time) and your colleague creates an Automation (Eastern Time) to capture a screenshot of your import's data, the Data Automation will trigger based on the alert creator’s time zone - Eastern Time in this example. For Automations set to trigger “When data changes” OR “When a new row is added” at a specific time, it will also follow the creator's timezone. |
