Import Templates are a convenient way to create imports without starting from scratch. By crafting an import template, you can streamline the process of importing data without the need for repetitive manual field selection, sorting, and filtering. Additionally, this enables you to efficiently utilize the same template multiple times, resulting in valuable time/effort savings.
You can also share this with a team member who might be new to Coefficient. They can readily utilize the import template you've designed as a starting point for their exploration and tasks.
Create an import using an Import Template
Create an Import Template
Example: Salesforce Campaigns import
1. Open the Coefficient Sidebar and click “Import from…”. |
2. Select your data source. (ie: Salesforce) |
3. Select “From Objects & Fields”. |
4. Choose the Object and Fields you wish to import. |
5. You have successfully created a Salesforce import from objects & fields. At the same time, we automatically generate an Import Template for you.
6. To confirm your import was converted into a template, launch Coefficient and click “Import from…” |
7. Select the data source from the list. (ie, Salesforce) |
8. The new template will appear under "My Import Templates". |
ℹ️ NOTE: When creating new import templates, Coefficient checks for the uniqueness of objects, filters, and sorting criteria but does not consider the selected fields. This allows you to create multiple import templates for the same Salesforce object with different fields; however, only one import template (the first one) will be saved.

FAQs for Import Templates
Why isn't an import template created automatically for me?
When creating an import template, we first verify if one with the same inputs already exists. If a matching template is found, we avoid creating a duplicate and instead bring the existing template to the top of your list for quick access.
What happens to existing imports if an Import Template is modified or deleted by the owner?
Existing imports created with the template will remain unaffected when the template is modified or deleted. Any changes made to the template will only apply to future imports using that template.
Why can't I see the option to share my templates?
Template sharing is only available for accounts registered with business domains (e.g., company email addresses). If you're using a generic email provider like Gmail or Yahoo, the sharing option won't be accessible.
What happens if the creator unshares an Import Template?
If the creator of an import template decides to unshare it, the template will no longer appear in the "Shared Templates" section for users within the domain to access or modify. However, any existing imports created using the template will remain unaffected.
The team member who created all our Import Templates has left the company. Can ownership be transferred to another active team member?
YES! We can help you with this. When transferring import ownership after a team member leaves (Transferring Imports), we’re happy to help with this request. Please get in touch with the Support team at support@coefficient.io and inform them that you need Import Templates transferred to a new user. Be sure to provide the email address of the current owner and the new owner's email so that the request can be completed.
