Import from My Drive

1. Open the Coefficient Sidebar and click on the "Import from" button.

2. Click on "Files".

3. Select "Google Sheets" from the list.

4. A new pop-up window will show that allows you to select your file from the ‘My Drive’ tab.

ℹ️ NOTE: You can also import files that are shared with you from the ‘Shared Drives’ or ‘Shared with me’ tab on the window selection.

5. Customize your import by selecting a Tab and Range of cells. Make sure to specify if you want to designate a Header or “None”.

6. Further customization can be done to this import by rearranging the column order, adding filters, or sorting the data before import. Note: If no import name is entered, your tab name will be Copy of + (name of worksheet)

7. Check the “Preserve formatting” box to apply the same style and format from your source sheet to this new import. (This can be cell highlights, text coloring, borders, etc)

8. Congratulations on your first import from another Google Sheets file! 🎉

ℹ️ NOTE:  Conditional formatting will apply when the “Preserve formatting” option is enabled. (Data Validation, Cell Notes, and Comments are not supported by this feature.)

FAQs for Google Sheets

If my original sheet has formulas in some columns, will it be copied over?

Coefficient will import the values and not the formulas from your source sheet. As a workaround, you can use the IMPORTRANGE() function.

I am having trouble importing from Google Drive. What steps can I take to resolve this?

There are a few things you can try:

  1. Confirm that you have “Editor” permissions for the sheet (Important with Shared Sheets). If you do not have “Editor” access, request this from the owner of the Sheet. Then try importing again.
  2. Confirm that the Sheet you are trying to import does not have any custom restrictions/protected ranges,/Sheets. (Protected Ranges will block scheduled import refreshes)
  3. Verify whether the sheet owner has an active Google account. (Google Rules and Permissions apply)

I am getting a prompt that multiple logins are detected when launching the sidebar. What do I do?

Due to Google’s recent V8 Migration (more details here), users who are signed in to multiple Google accounts in the same browser may experience issues when using applications that uses Google Apps Script, such as Coefficient.

As a result of this change, there are some things to take note of. If you’re signed into multiple accounts but using your Coefficient login as the default account, everything should work normally.

If you’re signed into multiple accounts, but NOT using your Coefficient login as the default account, you will see this warning prompt. While you can still use the product and perform actions like Refresh, any action that requires the preview modal, such as imports, writebacks, or alerts with a preview, won’t work.

To use Coefficient normally, sign out of all accounts, then sign in first with your Coefficient account to set it as your default. Then, you can sign in to any other Google accounts as needed. For more information on fixing issues with multiple Google Accounts, click here
