The AI Sheets Assistant lets you work with your spreadsheet using everyday language—no formulas or coding needed. Whether you're just getting started with spreadsheets or you use them every day, this tool helps you move faster and get more done right inside Google Sheets.

Type in what you need (ie, “show me a chart of monthly sales” or “calculate the average by category”), and the Assistant will take care of the rest. It's like having a spreadsheet expert built right in.

Here are a few examples of what you can do with Coefficient's new AI Sheet Assistant: 

• Write a formula to calculate year-over-year growth for column B
• Fix a VLOOKUP formula that is not working
• Explain what a formula does
• Make a bar chart of revenue by month
• Create a pie chart showing the deal count by stage
• Build a Dashboard showing monthly sales, top products, and year-to-date growth
• Create a pivot table showing total sales by region
• Summarize this data in one paragraph. 

Help with Formulas

Coefficient’s AI Sheets Assistant makes it easy to write, fix, and understand formulas—no advanced skills required. Whether you’re just getting started with Google Sheets or looking to speed up your work, this guide will help you use the Assistant to build formulas faster and more accurately.

ℹ️ EXAMPLE: Write a formula to calculate your Net Sales Orders.

1. Open the Coefficient sidebar and click "AI Sheets Assistant."

2. Select "Help with formulas..." or enter your prompt. Example: Calculate net order sales using columns D, E, F, and G.

3. Press  "Enter" or click the upward arrow to submit your prompt. The AI Assistant will scan your sheet’s data to understand what you need. It may ask for more context. Choose one of the options to get a more accurate formula.

The Assistant automatically detects your current cell selection; however, you can change it if necessary. Click "Run" once the selections are completed. Existing Sheet: The formula will be added in the cell you entered in the box. New Sheet: The formula will be added to a different sheet.

4. Give it a moment while the AI Sheets Assistant processes your request and returns the result.✨

5. Congratulations! Your Net Order Sales have been filled in with the formula generated by Coefficient's AI Sheets Assistant.  🎉

Create Charts

Discover how easy it is to build dynamic charts in Google Sheets using Coefficient’s Sheets Assistant. This guide walks you through how our GPT-powered Assistant streamlines chart creation, making it faster, more flexible, and easier to visualize your data. Whether you’re a spreadsheet pro or just getting started, Sheets Assistant can help you turn your data into clear, compelling visuals in no time.

ℹ️ EXAMPLE: Create a pie chart showing the percentage of all deals owned by each member of the Sales team.

3. Press "Enter" or click the arrow to submit your prompt. The AI Assistant will analyze the data within your sheet and then ask where you'd like to place your pie chart.

You can choose where to place the top-left corner of your chart by either typing a cell reference or selecting one of the options below. Click on Run once a selection is made. Existing sheet: Adds the chart to your current sheet, starting at the cell specified in the range field. New sheet:  Creates a new sheet and automatically places the chart there.

4. The AI Sheets Assistant will get to work right away to create the pie chart and let you know once it's ready. ✨

5. Your pie chart has been successfully created in the selected cell. You can make manual edits directly in the sheet if needed.

Pivot tables are incredibly powerful tools for summarizing and analyzing data, but they can sometimes be challenging to set up and use effectively. Our AI Sheets Assistant helps you create pivots quickly and easily, removing the complexity of manual data analysis. 1. Open the Coefficient sidebar and click "AI Sheets Assistant".

2. Select "Create pivot table..." or enter your prompt directly. Sample Prompt: Create a pivot table to summarize sales data by region

3. Press "Enter" or click the arrow to submit your prompt. The AI Assistant will analyze the data within your sheet and may ask for more context about the pivot table you are building.

6. Hooray! 🎉 Your pivot table is ready.

Can I use the AI Sheets Assistant in Excel? 

Currently, the AI Sheets Assistant is only available for Google Sheets. If you'd like to see this feature added to our Excel Add-In, please contact us at support@coefficient.io to submit a feature request.

What AI model does the AI Sheets Assistant use?

The AI Sheets Assistant leverages advanced AI models from leading providers, including OpenAI, to deliver powerful and accurate assistance.

Is the AI Sheets Assistant free?

Currently, the AI Sheets Assistant feature is free for all our users. Stay tuned for our updates on any future changes. 

Are there any limitations that I should be aware of when using the AI Sheets Assistant?

Yes, Coefficient's AI Sheets Assistant is currently designed to work only within Google Sheets. Please note the following: 

• We are unable to pull data from external sources or live systems.
• The AI Sheets Assistant cannot answer questions about the Coefficient product or your account (please reach out to support@coefficient.io for help with these questions). 
• The AI Sheets Assistant cannot undo changes that you have made to your sheet. You can use the "Restore" function in Google Sheets to revert your sheet to a previous version.

What chart types are supported by the AI Sheets Assistant?

How accurate is the AI Sheets Assistant?

The AI Sheets Assistant is currently in Beta, so occasional errors may occur. We encourage you to use the thumbs-up and thumbs-down feedback buttons to help us improve. You can also manually adjust any charts or pivot tables the Assistant creates as needed.

Can the AI Sheets Assistant handle long or complicated conversations?

When entering prompts, please keep them concise and focused. In longer or more detailed conversations, the AI may lose track or misunderstand your request.

For best results: 

• Ask one clear question at a time.
• Be specific and include details about your goal. 
• Start a new conversation if you are asking a different question or introducing a new topic.
